I recently read a post in the KAP forum about an intervalometer for a Sony camera for aerial photography.
The timer in this case was a mechanical/electronic solution, if I saw it correctly. As I was faced with the same problem for my Sony A6000 some time ago, I did some research on the WWW and actually found a solution.
The open source solution is an APP that is installed on the camera. According to the list of supported cameras, it is also suitable for the A5000 and other camera models. Everything you need for this can be found here.
