It all began more than 30 years ago on the beach in St. Peter-Ording when, after a lot of persuasion from my wife, I finally bought a Peter Powell stunt kite.After more or less successful attempts, I managed to conjure up the one or other desired figure in the sky.Over time, the stunt kites became more and more challenging until, after a few kite festivals, I became more interested in single line kites. Which hasn’t changed to this day.
In the photo above, that’s not me – I didn’t start kite flying that early after all.

1. Are your kites self-made?
All my kites are self-built, even if the construction plans are not always mine.
2. Which kite do you like best?
This can certainly change during a season, but in the end the Cody War Kite is my favourite. I prefer the shape with the short wings because I think it looks better.
3. Are the mounts and the equipment for aerial photography also made in-house?
I also build these things myself. But only the mechanical parts, the electrical and electronic components are bought in.
4. Can I get construction plans from you?
In principle, yes, if I could finally get the plans finished.
5. How much line is on your reel?
There are 300 metres on the large wooden spool, although I’m only legally allowed to use 100 metres in Germany.
6. Can you see the monitor image of the camera on the ground?
Yes, I can – if I want to. Most of the time I don’t have a video downlink connected and let myself be surprised by what the camera has recorded.
